Happy New Year!!!

Tis the season to be GRATEFUL! I'm so excited about the New Year because it's always a fresh start! What is your New Years resolution? My list this year is short and straight to the point. But, the reason why I'm excited about the this New Year is because I turn the big 21 also I get to file taxes as independent and lastly....I'm moving to LA! This will be the last year that I spend my NYE in Chicago and I'm excited to share it with the people I love.

Also, it took me 2 years to get this all white dressed made and this year with hard work from my girl Shamica Wallace and I, we made it happen this year! I will pair the white dress with some black stiletto heels, black/silver/grey clutch, and RED LIPSTICK! Yes, on my Quest I found the right lipstick for the Petite and Curly Toffee mama aka ME! I'm really excited to get dolled up as usual for New Years! Take a look at my looks from the past 2 New Years below. Be safe and enjoy your NEW YEAR!

Merry Christmas and a Happy Hair Day 2 You.....

Hey loves, I know I'm late posting my Christmas cheers (forgive me) but Christmas ended up being wash day! I was on my Quest for a different way to twist. I started my wash with Apple Cider Vinegar. ACV helps get rid of buildup, its a good alternative for natural hair. I proceeded to wash my hair with the Liquid Keratin Bold shampoo and conditioner treatment. While my hair was still a little wet, I added carrot oil, aloe, and Kinky-Curly Knot Today. I parted my hair in four sections then braided it into 4 fat braids. After I used a big wide tooth comb to detangle, I styled. This style is all loose 2 strand twist pinned.

All about Rouge.... with a hair twist ;)

I've been playing around with my pictures to see what red works for me, and well.....I had some fun with the hair as well. :)

All of the lights all of the nights...

What does your night life consist of? Do you like to party all the time and get drunk? Or are you the conservative type? However you decide to spend your nights they're always something to remember. On my nightly Quest, I've either planned my night out or they were completely random. My girl Liz and I always have fun random nights whenever she comes to visit. But, sometimes the nights can be pure bliss or dead boring.
(I love dancing with white guys. It makes my night 20x better!)

When I first moved on campus (circa 2007) I wasn't able to do much because I was too young. The only parties that I attended where college parties where they didn't check your age. But, when I turned 18, the fun and games began! I found myself going out every weekend, then it turned into 3-4 times a week! I had my reasons to why I partied all the time, and that was because "I was networking." Of course with the unbalanced fun and games, my grades slipped to average and I became tired. I was able to keep that lifestyle for about 2 years before I had an epiphany.

Now I'm a 4th year college student who stays off campus and paying her own bills. I remember a time when I was younger and wanted to pay bills. Now the time has come and I want to keep my money! From rent, phone bills, food, etc....I don't have the time or money to party all the time. My body tells me when to fall asleep and now I listen. I used to fight the urge and drink an energy drink and stay awake in the wee nights. I refuse to let anything or anyone come in between my rest. People used to call my phone all the time because I knew all about the night life and now they don't bother. (I have a tendency of falling  asleep on the plans lol.)

(Liz, Me, and Brittany on my Bday)

As I became wiser on my life Quest, I realized that I love to focus on my crafts, or go to places where I can get inspired. I enjoy going out dancing with my girls in a chill environment. I love trying new things, and I'd rather do that now then be in a crowd of party people. (Don't get me wrong, I sometimes have the urge to go out and party, but it's hard when you don't have a car.) I put this post up to say....How is your night life?

Take Me Away...

It's that season to cake up or break up. As people we know what we want, but once we get it can we handle it? I know when it comes to relationships, I know what I want. I date men who inspire me to become better and vice versa. The men I date have to be passionate about their pursuits and love to have a good time. They have to know how to treat a woman and do the simple things a gentlemen is suppose to do for a lady. Each relationship is a learning and growing process and I'm thankful for all the moments good or bad.

I've had my share of "talking" to people and being in "relationships" as well. I used to believe that women can do it better when it came down to playing games. My verdict is true, women do it better in many aspects. But, men know how to take our hearts and leave us so emotional. (To be quite frank, I don't know which is worst.) I never cheated in a relationship, which is why I stayed single. (I don't believe in cheating, I'm all for commitment when I'm committed.) But, in my dating process I've been through a lot.

Each guy who has been in my life I've taken something from them and use it in my life. They each had something different and unique to bring to the table which makes me long for them to be around. But, as I sit back and think, I think about the reasons why they were in my life at that time. Each guy had a significant purpose in my Quest of life to help me discover something about me. It may sound selfish, but it's true. They brought something out of me that I didn't know was there. Or they introduced me to something that I eventually made my own. To me, that is what relationships (with or without the title) is all about. Their about sharing, putting each other on to that "New New."

The reason why I'm posting this is because I believe in having  AWESOME relationships. Being beautiful inside and out isn't bad. Caring for that person and telling them you care shows that your interested. People shouldn't have to wonder about the "ifs" when your involved with someone. Rather your in a committed or non-committed relationship, keep the door open for communication. Trust me when I say this, talking helps the soul move on baby! Because we all want a clarity and understanding about why this or that didn't work. It helps the other person move on too. So don't be so selfish and enjoy life's beauties!

Le Naturale

Bonjour, Comment ĂȘtes-vous? I'm wonderful! It's wash day and I'm back on my Curly Quest. I styled my hair in a twist pin-up. It took me forever to do this style because the rain made me lazy. But, I washed my hair with Liquid Keratin Bold. (I've been chosen to be the guinea pig for this new product and I like it!) Liquid Keratin Bold has all natural products which is good for your hair, rather relaxed or natural. It's suppose to make your hair more manageable, soft, and defrizz your hair. So far the product is doing just that! I highly recommend this to all Curly women. I have type 3c/4a hair and I was able to tell the difference after the first use of this product.

After I washed my hair, I made up my own Curly hair concoction of: Aloe Vera Juice, Jojoba Oil, Caster Oil, Vanilla, Vitamin E, Kinky-Curly Knot Today, and Carrot Oil. I parted my hair in 4 sections and added my mix. After I added the mix, I braided my hair in 4 big ugly braids and let it sit for about an hour before I styled my hair. (Putting your hair in braids makes it more manageable for styling.) I took the braids out and combed my hair from tip to root. (This combing technique helps you not break your hair.) Then BAM! My hair is good until next wash day (1 week). I plan to keep it in twist for about 3-4 days, then untwist and style freely.

I hope this helps the natural women out there. I know it can be difficult if your also on your Quest to growing out and maintaining your beautiful hair. I've been natural all my life and now I'm taking better care of it. Every since this beautician cut my long mid back length hair 3yrs ago, I haven't been taking good care of it. So now I'm on this Quest to get my hair back long and healthy by the end of the summer 2011.

I Present to you... Richard Hawkins

When I went to go visit the Art Institute yesterday with a new friend from Spain, we came across Richard Hawkins Contemporary pieces. I instantly fell in love with his twisted characteristics shown in his paintings. I enjoyed his vibrant colors and awkward appeals to the human body. Some of the pictures shown below were painted images of tourist in Tokyo (don't quote me) and his view about wanting more "sexiness" in his drawings. If you ever get a chance to visit, please check them out. I felt a little immature looking at some of them because I couldn't help but laugh. I love how he characterized their bottoms, too glitter lol. But, his Zombie collection is by far the least favorite of mine. Too gory, dark, and depressing for me.

Va va Red

Yesterday I continued my quest on the "Perfect Red" for me. I went to go visit the M.A.C. counter in Macy's and I still don't know what to think of these colors. They seem to appear better in person rather than caught on the camera. This is a HUGE problem because that is all I'll be doing is taking pics. So Here are a few more pics of some finds. Also while I was at the Art Institute, I saw this picture of a dark skin woman with red lips. Too glitter right? Indeed it is!

I forgot that I wore red for New Years Eve 2 years ago. I guess Red is my unconscious NYE color. Because I'm looking for another Red this time around.

The Perfect Red

I'm on a quest to look for the "Perfect Red" for the New Year. They say black women can't wear red because it's not for our skin color. PSSSHHH! I beg to differ. So now I'm on this quest to look for the "Perfect Red" for me. I'm more of an orange, coral, summer type lipstick woman. I believe there is one out there for me and I shalll find it before the New Year comes. So I'm goin to upload pics of my finds from all over. The first pic is from Dior 999, but it's bold and I don't know if it's....Me. SN: My eyebrows look really dark hmmm?
